Empowering Change: Join Us This International Women's Day!
 
At the beginning of 2024, we found ourselves reflecting on the opportunities that Australian summer brings to celebrate the diversity within our community. It's a time to embrace various customs and traditions of the summer holiday season while fostering unity around shared values of peace, resilience, and togetherness. 

If you haven’t heard of Girl Guides, what we do, or what we stand for, we’re a crucial element in community cohesion. Our organisation brings about tangible positive changes in the lives of individuals and communities, and even though we are more than 100 years old, we continue to adapt to meet the evolving needs of emerging generations. 

In line with our commitment to empowerment and inclusivity, we are excited to support the theme for International Women's Day 2024: "Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress." This theme, set by UN Women, underscores the critical importance of investing in women to address the world's most pressing challenges. 

By investing in women, we can spark change and speed the transition towards a healthier, safer, and more equal world for all. Girl Guides creates changemakers who become the leaders and policymakers of tomorrow. It is imperative that policymakers and leaders of today prioritise gender-responsive financing, increase public spending on essential services and social protection, and recognize the vital contributions women make to economies worldwide through paid and unpaid care work. 

United in our commitment to empowerment and inclusivity, let's lead the charge for gender equality and commit to empowering women, just as we empower individuals to become leaders in their communities. By doing so, we ignite the spark of a future where every individual in our society can flourish. Through our shared dedication and action, we have the power to build a world brimming with limitless opportunities and empowerment for everyone, guided by our principles, our values, and the promise and commitment we make to ourselves and our communities.  

Girl Guides make invaluable contributions to our community and empower girl and young woman individuals to discover their leadership potential. This International Women’s Day join with Girl Guides to work at all levels of community to bring new opportunities, renewed hope, and a continued sense of purpose as we collectively embark on a journey towards a brighter future.
