Ongoing Volunteers


People who volunteer with GGiA and one or more of the following apply. They would like to, or currently volunteer:

  • on five or more occasions in any 12-month period at a Girl Guide activity where Youth Members are present
  • for any overnight stay
  • who due to the nature of the assistance to be provided, are likely to come into contact with Youth Members without being able to be supervised by an Adult Member in accordance with the Supervision Ratio policy. e. g. Canyoning
  • who are likely to come into contact with Youth Member's data or any financial or Member data through record keeping or administration

Adult Members are also Ongoing Volunteers. As an Ongoing Volunteer you can choose to be a paid Member and fulfil a formal role such as 'Unit Leader' or help as a Non Member.

To become a Non Member Ongoing Volunteer, you need to: 

  1. Register with Girl Guides online by completing this form.

  2. Provide a valid Child Safety Check for your state/territory 

    Working with Children Check (NSW),
    Working with Vulnerable Persons Check (ACT). NB: please email a copy of the front and back of the card as this check must be sighted to verify.
    or Working with Children Clearance (NT). 

  3. Agree to:

    • The Girl Guides Australia (GGA) Code of Conduct and Terms & Conditions of Volunteering.

    • Provide a National Police Check (More information will be provided to you during registration. If you don't have one, we will send you a link from Fit2Work to apply)

    • Provide contact details for 2 referees who are not family members and who can speak to your suitability to volunteer (You will be sent a separate link from Fit2Work to complete this step)

    • Provide contact details for 1 Referring Girl Guides Member (e.g., Unit Leader, or District Manager etc.)

    • Complete Girl Guides Child Safe Child Friendly (CSCF) training (more information will be provided to you after registration) within 6 weeks of receiving your email from eGuiding notifying you of your enrolment.

PLEASE NOTE:
  • Username- this can be anything you like, e,g, Date of Birth, Email address
  • Password - Must be at least 7 characters long, contain a number and a capital.
  • Please take a moment to record your Username and Password so you are able to log into www.girlguides-nswactnt.org.au  smoothly
