Trefoil 3 & Adult Canoe/Kayak - Skills Day

This one day of Canoe/Kayak is designed to support Trefoil 3 and Adult members learn canoe/kayak basic skills and then develop these skills to the required level, in a new flexible format. 

Participants should:
• first complete a Basic Skills Day, then
• complete one or more Development Session(s) to build their skills to the required competency

Assessment of Trefoil 3 and the Adult Basic Skills module of OUT 06 ALQP Conduct Canoe / Kayak Activities may be conducted at any Skills Development session, once one session has been completed in full (i.e. at a subsequent session).
 
If you have completed a trefoil3/adult training in the past, you can book into any Skills Development session to further your skills or for assessment. Please indicate which at the time of booking.

Skills Day Course Covers:

- being Safe – Guidelines, risk management, weather, tides, water grades, maps
- equipment – selecting, Lifejackets, stowing, maintenance, handling
- canoeing/Kayaking Skills – as per Trefoil 3 and Adult Basic Skills Modules, including participating in capsize and rescue scenarios
- knots & their uses
- environmental Management – Minimal impact and canoeists code

Prerequisites:

- All participants are required to be able to swim 50m in Deep moving water.
- Complete a Basic Skills session before participating in a Development session

You must be a current Member of Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT in good financial standing to attend. Please make sure your membership is current before registering and have your membership number available to sign up online.

Registrations close: 5pm Monday 14 February 2022, unless course is filled prior to this date.

Once you have registered you will receive more information regarding the training via email

No name changes, refunds or transfers after Monday 14 February 2022.

All refund requests must be submitted via email to [email protected] and will only be processed under extenuating circumstances.

In some cases, a transfer to the next available equivalent course in the calendar year may be considered. To request a transfer after the registration close date please email [email protected].
