How Non Members can register to help Girl Guides in Australia (GGiA)

Volunteers are the backbone of Girl Guiding. Thanks to the many Volunteers in Girl Guiding in Australia (GGiA) girls and young women can experience all that Girl Guiding offers.  The Girl Guides Australia Child Safe Child Friendly (CSCF) Framework includes registration and screening requirements for all Volunteers involved with girls. As a non-member Volunteer with Girl Guides you will fall into one of two categories.

READ THE FOLLOWING AND SELECT THE APPROPRIATE FORM FOR YOUR INTENDED VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES BELOW

Casual Volunteers

People who volunteer with GGiA on less than five occasions in any 12-month period at a Girl Guide activity where Youth Members are present. For example:

  • Assisting at a BBQ at a GGiA event
  • Talking to Youth Members about a topic (whilst supervised by an Adult Member.)
  • Helping out at your daughter’s Guide Unit one week

Casual Volunteers are not able to assist with overnight stays or when it is likely to result in unsupervised access to Youth Members.

Ongoing Volunteers

People who volunteer with GGiA and one or more of the following apply. They would like to, or currently volunteer:

  • on five or more occasions in any 12-month period at a Girl Guide activity where Youth Members are present
  • for any overnight stay
  • who due to the nature of the assistance to be provided, are likely to come into contact with Youth Members without being able to be supervised by an Adult Member in accordance with the Supervision Ratio policy. e. g. Canyoning
  • who are likely to come into contact with Youth Member's data or any financial or Member data through record keeping or administration

All Adult Members are also Ongoing Volunteers. As an Ongoing Volunteer you can choose to be a Member and take on a formal role such as 'Unit Leader' or help out as a Non Member.
