In 2020, Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT celebrated it’s 100th birthday. 100 years of the organisation in NSW. 100 years of changing the lives of girls and young women. Our world has changed a lot over those 100 years, and Girl Guides have changed along with it. We are now one of the largest organisations in Australia for girls and young women, with a focus on personal growth, leadership, advocacy and community.

1 in 7 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Many require survey and receive a post-surgery drain, yet transporting the post-surgery drain can be logistically challenging and embarrassing.

Always looking to support the community, Girl Guides began the #girlguidescarebags service project. This project allows us to advocate for women's health issues within the Guiding and broader community. It also gives us a chance to help people during a vulnerable period of their lives.

Since 2013 Girl Guides in NSW, ACT & NT have undertaken this project to handmake and donate bags to carry post surgery drains—providing dignity and mobility to thousands so far.
