Adult Open Week is soon!
18–24 September |
|
|
Adult Open Week will be taking place from 18-24 September. Adult Open Week is an opportunity for your Unit or District (or Region!) to host an Adult Come & Try and boost Guiding in your area.
It's a week dedicated to welcoming anyone who’s recently enquired, as well as leads, interested people, Guiding parents/carers and friends through the doors of your Guide Hall (or wherever you meet for Guides) and into the world of Girl Guiding. |

Is it just a Come & Try for Adults? |
|
Yes! Put simply, Adult Open Week is an opportunity for you to host an Adult Come & Try or any recruitment-based event/activity, that engages adults in your local area. It's a way for you to share more information about Girl Guiding, including how to get involved and volunteer.
We’ve termed it ‘Adult Open Week’ so that we can generate widespread awareness and ensure all participating Units, Districts and Regions can welcome as many attendees as possible.
We highly encourage all Units and Districts to coordinate an Adult Come & Try (or other Adult recruitment-based event) during Adult Open Week, spanning 18–24 September |

|
Who's Invited? |
|
Any interested Adults 18+ considering joining Girl Guides! You could also open the invite up to existing parents/guardians of Girl Guides, friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances, and members of the community.
All those who registered for the Virtual Campfire Meetup have been invited to register. |

How can I encourage people to come? |
|
|
Promotions for Adult Open Week have been ongoing since the launch of our We Need You Adult Recruitment Campaign on 1 August.
We are pleased to offer new Adult Open Week promotional resources available for download via the Campaign folder (including social media posts and an editable Canva flyer) below. |

At the same time that you’re promoting for your Come & Try (or recruitment-based event) in Adult Open Week, Guide House will coordinate widespread awareness and promote sign ups on a broader scale. It's in this way that Adult Open Week is an organisational-wide Adult recruitment drive that everyone can benefit from. |

How will registrations work? |
|
Attendees can register for Adult Open Week via the link below. All registrations will be forwarded to the relevant Region and District teams for following up. After we send you the registration, it’s expected you manage these leads by providing them the specific details to your Adult Open Week event (including time, place, and program). |

Why can't I organise registrations myself? |
|
The purpose of having a centralised booking system for Adult Open Week is to, 1) take a portion of the load off volunteers, and 2) make it easier to create a list of 'leads' we can leverage for future recruitment and promotional activity.
As soon as we receive Adult Open Week registrations, we will pass it onto the relevant Unit, District and/or Region team for you to handle all future contact. If the registrant doesn't specify their preferred Unit to 'visit', we will pass them onto the closest Unit.
This is very much a pilot and the intention is to keep on optimising Adult recruitment as we go. If we find this centralised system slows the process, we'll look at other methods! |

I’ve been sent an Adult Open Week registration but my area is not hosting an event. What should I do? |
|
Even if you’re not hosting an official Adult Open Week event, we encourage you to treat this registration like any normal Adult Enquiry. Invite the person to coffee, or to an upcoming Unit Meeting or District event. It’s clear they want to engage more with Girl Guides, so use this as an opportunity to open the door for them! |

OK, so where do I start? |
|
First, we recommend turning to your Unit, District or Region team for support on how to host an Adult Come & Try. This doesn't need to be complex, but does need to be engaging! Perhaps you have Youth Members who could speak to the impact of Guiding, or maybe you have seasoned Unit Leaders who are happy to share their volunteering stories?
However you decide to structure your Come & Try, remember: less is more! Try to provide bite-sized information. |
