COVID-19 cancellation—Centenary Celebration Camp and Carnival Day

Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT have made the difficult yet necessary decision to cancel the Centenary Celebration Camp and partner event, Carnival Day. 

The Centenary Celebration Camp and Carnival Day events understandably experienced low registration numbers due to COVID concerns and the widespread impact of the pandemic.  

Low registration numbers make events like these uneconomical for the Association and lessen the quality of experience that Girl Guides may have at the event. These factors, combined with the concern of the deepening COVID crisis in Greater Sydney bringing the safety and wellbeing of our members front-of-mind, have driven this decision. 

Registration cancellations are being processed, and registrants will receive a full refund of their paid ticket amount. Refunds will be processed into the initial account that purchased the ticket. With many refunds to be processed, registrants are advised that if they have not received a refund by Friday, 6 August, to please contact the Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT Events Team via email to [email protected]. 

The organisation would like to acknowledge and thank the Centenary Camp and Carnival Day Organising Committee for their dedication in the planning of this event, which has been ongoing since 2019. Their commitment to delivering an exceptional event and their responsiveness to changing need and situational requirements is to be commended.  

The organisation would also like to thank all our Girl Guides who registered to attend and all the Leaders and volunteers who not only registered, who were also prepared to give their own time at their own expense to ensure the Guides who they would be responsible for would benefit from all that the experience of the five-day camp or the carnival day would have had to offer each and any girl who attended. 
 
Once the pandemic has been mitigated, Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT will continue to plan large Association events, sleepouts, and camps to enrich the experience that Girl Guides gives to each and any girl, and we look forward to sharing the news of these activities with you when we are able. 

At this point in time, our Guides Go Wild event is still going ahead, as it is a single, onsite event with no extra movement or travel within the community, and subject to different conditions.
