Call for Director Nominations

Applications are currently being sought by Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT from suitably qualified and eligible Association Members who wish to be considered for election as a Director to the Board.

Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT (GGN) is a for purpose Member Association focussed on the growth and development of girls and young women. Girl Guides provides a place where girls can learn, build their skills, and connect with like-minded peers. The benefits also extend to the Leaders and volunteers who play a vital role in supporting the girls.  To support the Associations’ mission and objectives, GGN is committed to securing and maintaining a skilled and balanced Board to represent its Members and their interests. GGN is committed to providing contemporary and respected corporate governance and leadership.
 

Election of Directors

The election process for Elected Directors of the Board involves a postal ballot to enable widespread participation among Adult Members. Ballot papers and voting instructions are sent to each Adult Member at least 28 days before the Annual General Meeting, by email, and by traditional mail to Members for whom the Association has no recorded email address. Each Adult Member has the right to cast one vote per vacant Elected Director position, with votes deemed valid if received by the CEO at least 48 hours before the AGM. The entire process adheres to the Rules specified in clauses 7.6.1, 7.6.2, and 7.6.3 of the GGN Constitution.

Eligibility for nominating

The candidate must be an Adult Member of Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT. Additionally, they should have a minimum membership duration of three years as of the election date, not be an employee of the organisation, and must be nominated in writing with their consent by another Adult Member, and not have held office as an Elected Member of GGN for the maximum term of 6 years with that term expiring at or since the previous year’s Annual General Meeting.
 

Process for nominating

A nomination of an Adult Member to the position of an Elected Director must be received by the Chief Executive Officer not less than 35 days before the Annual General Meeting.

Consideration and review of the nomination

When the nomination period has ended, all submissions will undergo thorough checks for completeness and validity. Electronic ballot papers will be meticulously prepared and sent out to all active Adult Members who's membership is active and financially valid. Information nominees share about themselves, along with details from their nominator, will be made publicly available. Once the voting period concludes, returned ballots are securely stored and independently counted. The outcome remains confidential until it is officially disclosed during the Annual General Meeting.
