Welcome! Can you believe the end of the year is right up ahead? As you venture into the crazy end of year, we hope you find the time to check in with your Olave Program, catch up with your peers, attend an online event (the next one involves chocolate!) and prepare for the new year ahead. Our welcome also extends to our newest Olave Program Members who have joined recently. We hope you get the chance to attend some face-to-face and online events as you learn more about the Olave Program.
A reminder that the purpose of this communication between US (your state Olave Program Committee) and YOU (the passionate, strong, and mighty Members out there doing great work), is to stay in touch, share upcoming events and wholesome content from your sisters in Guiding. Please note: State Trainings can be found on the Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT website.
We need you!
If you ever do something small or big, individually or with your Peer Group, we’d LOVE to share it with everyone (with your permission). Please send your wins to [email protected] |

Each term, we’ll have three initiatives you may be involved in, either individually or as a Peer Group. These initiatives will be centred upon the three aspects of our Olave Program Framework. |
|
Community |
It's in the Bag |
Olaves across Australia will be able to support Share the Dignity as community supporters of their #ItsInTheBag Campaign. From now until mid-November, Olaves are asking the wider Girl Guiding community to donate to the campaign. The goal is to collect at least 600 bags containing personal care items, to support vulnerable girls and women across Australia. Which State can collect the most bags per capita?

ONE Adventure |
Off the back of our last Online Event where we had discussions around what Spring-time activities we had planned, the Olave Program Committee challenge you to participate in ONE Adventure by the end of the year, take a photo and share it with us! |

Outside |
New and exciting, maybe challenging and intimidating (in the face of adversity we GROW) |
Evaluate – Did you enjoy it? Why/why not? Would you do it again? Why/why not? Would you recommend it to a friend? Why/why not? |
|
Share it with us here, or to our socials. |

Olave Spotlight - on your Olave Committee! |
|
Whilst it’s not quite the end of the year, I would like to take the opportunity to put a spotlight on your Olave Program Committee for a fantastic year and looking forward, our exciting adventures into 2024. Their unwavering enthusiasm and dedication to the Olave Program is incredible and no Olave events, new Members, socials, or awards could happen without their continuing efforts. Laura, Emily, Marissa and Katharine – BRAVOOO! If you would like to be apart of this amazing group of Young Women, please email or message our socials, we would love for you to join the team! |

The award process: |
- You put together a few ideas on which you’d like to work on as challenges for your award and select an award you would like to pursue.
- Find some mentors, peers, and role models you would like to be on your Award Support Group (at least two Olave age).
- Submit the application for your award to your Award Support Group and discuss your challenges.
- Your Award Support Group agree with your challenges (hold you accountable) and submit your application to the Olave Program Committee.
- We review your application and approve/conditionally approve your challenges (conditionally approve means we require some more information for the challenge, maybe timeframe or clarification on the challenge specifically).
- We respond via email for you to commence.
- You complete all your incredible challenges, share and have your peers reflect with you on your challenges.
- Let us know you have completed your award challenges, discussed with your Award Support Group and sent through any accompanying documentation.
- We review your completed award and congratulate you on an exceptional effort! (Life gets in the way – many of you working on awards in adulthood can agree that seeing an award through, such as the OBP is a feat in itself!!)
