With World Thinking Day tomorrow and so many citizenship and service-related activities inspiring our Members, whether International Women’s Day, Clean Up Australia and more, this week I have been thinking a lot about the power of connection and the opportunities when women and girls come together with shared purpose – for people and our planet. The weekend before last we held a successful virtual day conference for all our Members, with a name fitting our approach to our Guiding community ‘We Are All In This Together’.
Many updates were shared at this conference, and announcements made showcased how our organisation is adapting and responding to the changing world around us. Guiding calls us to stay relevant and be ready for the girls and young women of today and tomorrow. Moving forward with hope and positivity strengthens our bonds and better positions us to achieve our goals to be a place for every girl and any girl.
You’ll continue to receive updates through this newsletter as well as other direct newsletters, and we continue to promote different online learning spaces to help communicate change and provide spaces for questions. Please stay tuned and keep your ears open.
One small update I’m pleased to share – across a number of Regions right now, predominately in Greater Sydney, there is a targeted advertisement campaign displayed on many buses! We love seeing the social media posts of Girl Guides finding these buses ‘in the wild’!
Have you spotted the Girl Guide ads on a bus? Be sure to tag @GirlGuidesNSWACTNT and share as we continue to highlight the value of Girl Guiding, the impact we can make, and encourage more to join our Guiding community! |

Family Discount Now Available! |
|
For all Guiding families with three or more siblings involved in Guides, a family discount of 10% is now applicable to renewing membership costs! I am so pleased to see this discount introduced and I know it will be welcomed news to many families involved in Guides across NSW, ACT & NT.
To have the 10% discount applied, families will need to renew their 3 or more memberships over the phone (with the Member Services Team at Guide House on 1300 447 548). For foster carers or guardians, wards count as siblings.
Works are currently underway to have this discount available via the website. Please share this news with any Guiding families involved in your areas and encourage them to make use of the discount. |

NEW Queen's Guide Award Syllabus! And what it means... |
|
Did you hear the announcement about the Queen’s Guide Award syllabus refresh? We flagged this change to our Membership in July last year and heard more from the National Coordinator – Youth recently at our virtual conference ‘We Are All In This Together’ about this change.
The NEW 2023 syllabus provides a wide range of challenges making the Award more relevant to today’s Girl Guides, and easier to understand for girls, Leaders, and parents.
Click the link below to learn more about what this means for: |
|
• For Girls commencing the Queen’s Guide Award in 2023
• Guides working on the Queen’s Guide Award Pilot

ALQP Qualification Trainings – Visit GGA For Dates |
|
All training dates for Leadership Qualification and Management Qualification trainings are now live on the Girl Guides Australia website. You can register now!
In 2023, we welcome a change to how these qualifications are delivered across Australia with all State Girl Guide Organisations (SGGOs) now collaboratively delivering the training.
This means Leaders or Managers in Training will be able to connect with others across SGGO borders and Trainers will also be from across Australia. It is very exciting and will go a long way to supporting even more Volunteers in their Qualification journey.
In NSW, ACT & NT we have been successfully delivering Leadership Qualification and Management Qualification trainings for some time and these learnings are being actively applied as GGA navigates this new way of work for all of Australia.
For any new Leaders or Managers in Training please refer them to GGA to register. There will be a link on our website, but the dates will be published only on the national website for these trainings.
See the full 2023 calendar under Resources --> ALQP Training or tap the link below.
