Girl Guides - EPA Partnership |
|
Girl Guides is partnering with the NSW Government’s Environmental Protection Authority to double down on banning single-use plastic! This is a wonderful partnership that marks the beginning of Plastic Free July. It involves almost $900,000 in funding to support our organisation, along with 16 others, to educate communities on more sustainable practices.
Girl Guides is now a sustainability partner, along with Surfing NSW, the University of Newcastle and OzGreen. Single-use plastic items and packaging make up 60 per cent of all litter in NSW. The ban will prevent almost 2.7 billion items of plastic litter from entering the environment in NSW over the next 20 years!
Stay tuned to learn more about how we will bring this partnership to life and encourage everyone to take action and make choices for a better world! |

Plastic Free July |
This year, the theme of Plastic Free July is ‘Turn the Tide, one choice at a time’ and it celebrates the collective impact of millions of people around the world choosing to refuse plastics. Globally, participants in Plastic Free July have avoided 2.1 million tonnes of waste last year including millions of single-use drink bottles, coffee cups, packaging, straws, and plastic bags.
Join the groundswell of action and be part of Plastic Free July using Plastic Free July’s Changemaker Toolkit - there are so many options to help grow the movement and end plastic waste, once choice at a time! Share your involvement and tag @PlasticFreeJuly on social channels.
