This weekend I am thrilled to be joining in on the fun and adventure at the Great Guide Sleepover. What an incredible event and memory-maker!
The Region Managers and their Assistants are in Sydney for a region management conference and together we will join in at Taronga Zoo with a livestream cast to Darwin and Dubbo events – bringing together our Guiding community. Shaylah, one of my Deputies will be at the Great Guide Sleepover Dubbo, while Kerrey and Lisa will join me at Taronga. I am looking forward to being in the great outdoors with you all – come rain, hail or shine!

Wear it Purple!
|
|
Today marks Wear It Purple Day, and I am wearing purple in support of rainbow young people. Wear It Purple is a volunteer and youth led NFP organisation supporting LGBTQIA+ youth. It was founded in 2010 in response to stories of real teenagers who took their own lives following bullying and harassment due to a lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity. According to MINUS18, 66%of LGBTQIA+ youth in Australia still experience bullying based on their identity.
Our Guiding community is diverse and what binds us fast is our shared values and commitment to the Promise and Law. Girl Guiding is an inclusive and safe space. We make choices focussed on kindness and compassion.
Keep an ear out for more about our Inclusion strategies led by Julia Becker, our Inclusion Lead, and join with me today and Wear It Purple for a kinder world for today’s young people.
