Grants are funds provided by private, public and not-for-profit organisations for a range of purposes, such as to support groups to implement community projects and celebrate their achievements.
Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT has a
Grants Policy which provides guidance for volunteers and staff on applications of and management of grant funds within Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT. The Policy includes general direction on the processes for application, management and acquittal of grants within the organisation.
To comply with Accounting Standards and the requirements of the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profit Commission (ACNC), details of all grants made to Girl Guides Association (New South Wales) trading as Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT must be included in the Financial Statements of the entity. This is particularly important for grants from Government (whether Federal, State or Local) which must be separately included in a note/disclosure in the Annual Financial Statements.
Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT require that applications for Grants must be consistent with our
Constitution and
Mission.
Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT has adopted an Ethical, Social and Governance (ESG) approach to investing and financing of its operations. Care should be taken when considering grant applications and grants from funders involved in the following are to be avoided:
- Alcohol including the manufacture and distribution of alcohol related products
- Pornography – including the manufacture, distribution of pornographic or child abuse material and/or provision of prostitution services
- Tobacco – or other tobacco related product
- Gaming – where the core business is:
- Owning or operating a gaming related business; or
- Manufacture and supply of gaming equipment and systems
- Centred around the supply of weapons or weapon components
- Centred on the exploitation of youth or women
- Any other class which would conflict with the mission or ethos of Girl Guides NSW, ACT & NT as advised by FMC
