2023 National NAIDOC Week Poster

The NAIDOC Week Poster competition has become an integral part of the week’s celebrations. This year, winner of the competition is Bobbi Lockyer, proud Ngarluma, Kariyarra, Nyulnyul and Yawuru woman born and based on Kariyarra Country in Port Hedland in Western Australia’s Pilbara region. Bobbi’s artwork, For Our Elders, spotlights the role elders play in guiding our generations and paving the way for us to take the paths we take today.

In their stories, we find lessons of courage, harmony, and interconnectedness. They remind us to embrace diversity, respect ancestral knowledge, and strive for equality. Australian Indigenous women are the true embodiment of strength and grace, walking in the footsteps of their ancestors while carving out a brighter path for generations to come. During this NAIDOC Week, let us join hands and amplify their voices, uplift their stories, and stand as allies on the journey towards reconciliation. Together, we can forge a future where the brilliance and beauty of Indigenous women shine brightly, lighting the way for all Australians.
