Today, 20 June is World Refugee Day: a day to recognise the plight of people who’ve fled their homes for safer refuge. I encourage all Leaders to use this day as an opportunity to consider the relevance of Girl Guides in creating a safe, supportive, and understanding community for all - including refugees, displaced persons, and anyone else who may find themselves away from the familiarity of their home environment.
As #OneMovement, we stand #WithRefugees and we know the benefits of community and belonging through connection with others.
With many moving parts and things to plan, please regularly check the What’s On and Members Update area of My GuideBook. Information and special opportunities are regularly updated to the website so be sure to catch the latest!
If you didn’t catch the Olave Retreat 2023 report, have a read of it here! Laura White has provided a wonderful reflection to what was a weekend filled with connection and wholesome fun. |

WAGGGS Giving Day 2023 |
|
The bright futures of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts around the world rely on generosity and an unwavering belief in our Mission! For 36 hours, our global Movement came together on World Giving Day 2023 to share inspiring stories, celebrate, and give!
This Giving Day, we raised $326,890! Portions of this total amount will be channelled into different projects and initiatives, all supporting Girl Guides and Girl Scouts – things like leadership skills and opportunities, creating global connections in the World Centres, and just simply where the need is greatest! This includes in rapid resourcing response to help girls who are refugees!
Bravo to all those involved and if you or your Unit donated, thank you! |
